Wall of Fame at ‘De Punt’ with the Stars of the North

The De Punt building on the corner of Insulindestraat and Veurstraat is closely linked to the Hofbogen. For years the train ran over the toes of the former occupants of this building. It is now standing empty, in anticipation of a new use. In connection with the centenary of the Hofbogen and the redevelopment of the railway viaduct, De Punt has undergone a temporary metamorphosis. It has been transformed into a Wall of Fame covered with the ‘Stars of the North’. The facades are covered with photos of well-known and unknown Rotterdammers with past, present or future links to the neighbourhood, including the mayor Ivo Opstelten, the chess guru Hans Böhm, the hockey star Fatima Moreira de Melo and the writer Abdelkader Benali. This Wall of Fame was designed by the graphic artists Gerard Hadders and Edith Gruson and is an inititive of Hofbogen BV and the Vestia housing corporation, which administers the building. Vestia, together with the Com.Wonen, PWS and Stadswonen housing corporations, is also a part of Hofbogen BV.
